Many Adventures of Winnie Pooh Read-Along

(Book Plus Audio Cassette AND CD)
For The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh Read-Along, Disney dug deep in the Hundred Acre Wood and resurfaced with a plucky, honey-dipped package to please preschoolers and old-school Pooh fans alike. Here, Owl and Eeyore, et al., look their long-lost old selves, set in scenes so sparse and simple you want to crawl in and cuddle up. Cordial, grandfatherly narration by the crisp-voiced Christopher Plummer complements the old-fashioned, vaguely British flavor, and the tales are familiar to everyone, if briefer than we remember. First comes the quintessential Pooh quandary, wherein the bottomless honey pit of a bear humps it over to fidgety friend Rabbit's hole for a spot of lunch, only to fatten himself so unforgivably he can no longer fit through the front door. Next, but with nothing in the way of an audio segue or new chapter break, Wind's-day flies in, turning tiny Piglet into a porcine kite and crashing Owl's tree house to the ground. Meantime, Tigger terrifies the bear of little brain with his tales of heffalumps and woosels, and a torrential rainstorm washes Piglet and Pooh out of their homes and into a waterfall. Pooh rescues Piglet with a honey pot, Christopher Robin throws a hero's party, and Eeyore announces he's found a new nesting spot for Owl, but inadvertently renders Piglet homeless in the process. A happy ending's in store, but not before pauses in the action deliver us a pair of much-loved ditties, "The Wonderful Thing About Tiggers" and "The Rain, Rain, Rain Came Down, Down, Down." Spin it as an audio CD, slip it in the computer to read along onscreen, or dodge the digital scene altogether with the cassette--these sweet escapades, sewed up in 32 pages, zip along merrily, leaving not a sense of "O, bother" but the feeling you're glad you did.

Disney's Winnie the Pooh Balloon Book: Learn Colors and Numbers With Pooh

(Board Book)
My son, Matthew, absolutely LOVES this book! I bought it for him when he was just over 1 year old (he's now 2 1/2) and he's liked it since the first time he saw it. I bought it for him to teach him his colors and IT WORKED! He knew ALL of his colors by the time he was 1 1/2 years old! He really likes the front of it the most-he likes to "pop" the balloons every night at bedtime. If your child is learning/struggling with his/her colors I highly recommend this book. Even if they already know their colors it's great for counting as well. My son also knows how to count to almost 20 and I think he got to 10 from playing with this book. I'm actually on-line ordering it now for 2 of my friends children-ages 9 months and 13 months for Christmas gifts. It's really a great book and if you're considering buying this book, you won't be disappointed. It's THAT good! :)

Winnie the Pooh's Rainy Day Activities

By Sharee Hopler
This is a great book for kids ages 3-8. The activities are not only enjoyable and well-explained, but they acutally come out looking as good as the pictures in the book. The materials needed are common items that we had in the house which did away with needing to make frequent trips to buy things. There is a gentle humor in this book that fits perfectly with the stories that were selected to accompany the crafts. One extra bonus - my daughter frequentlty chooses this as her "bedtime book". How many other "craft" books can match that?

Oh Bother!

Pooh's Book About Trying New Things

By Hallie Marshall
This is another delightful Winnie the Pooh volume containing five stories about "trying new things." "Something New" engages the little reader in the fun of playing Follow-the-Leader. The story ends with a short rhyme by Pooh and an explanation of the game. In "Just try it, Dear," Kanga finds that her new recipe for cookies did not turn out very tasty. She soon learns that the cookies are meant for decoration only. So everybody joins in to paint the cookies and hang them up on a tree. The recipe for "Kanga's Decoration Cookies" is listed at the end of the story. In "If I were you and you were me" Tigger learns to be a serious, gardening Tigger, while Rabbit learns to have fun being a bouncing Rabbit. The story is followed by "Rabbit's Tips on Growing Things." In "Piglet shows some talent," Piglet learns how to overcame his stage fright. The end of the story lists "Piglet's Be-Brave Rules for Scary Events." "Eeyore sleeps over" describes how first sleep over can be a bit scritchy-scratchy. But Pooh's bedtime story for Eeyore, as well as his thoughtfulness, make Eeyore comfortable at the end. Yet another Pooh book to treasure, this one is part of Disney's Winnie the Pooh collection.

When a child wants to hear a story for bed or if he/she wants to just listen to what Pooh and his friends had done that day, they are getting as much from the story that they can. I believe this book helped bring my brother and I closer. The book teaches simply how to read in a fun, enthusiastic way. Tigger and friends help to teach the children how to have fun, to be fair, play safe, and most importantly how to read. This is a wonderful book for younger children that are just learning how to read, or are in their beginning stages of how to read.

A Disney First Reader book: paperbacks perfect for young children just beginning to read on their own.

Description from Publisher

This book has restored my faith in the new generation of Tigger-Pooh-Kanga-Owl-Eeyore-Piglet-Roo Christopher Robin tales. For a while there I thought these classic characters were going to be merchandised into plush toy oblivion. Isabel Gaines as author of the "Winnie the Pooh First Reader " series has done a great job in recapturing the happy innocence of the AA Milne originals. The language style is not infantile, but the youngest reader will understand the story. The value of family and friendships is the strong message that comes through. We look forward to seeing more stories in this series.

By Justine Korman

VHS Video Edition Also Available
As are most of the Pooh tales, this story has the ability to touch a youngster with glee, anxiety, and an ending which reaffirms the value and over-riding nature of friendship. For adults, the book reminds us that misunderstandings evoke many pointless meanderings, but when taken with the right attitude, they should teach us something. The simple values of friendship and love are the lessons here.

Pooh Helps Out

By Linda Armstrong
Finally, a practical way for parents to help children develop early reading skills! This unique book series gives parents an opportunity to help their children learn how to read--as they share the books together. The books are easy to use: On the left-hand pages, a passage appears for parents to read out loud to their children. This passage contains age-appropriate sight words that have been identified as crucial for reading development. The sight words are highlighted in red so that the child can see them in context.

On the right –hand page, a short passage appears with the same sight words. By recognizing the sight words introduced earlier, the child, with practice, will be able to read the passage and continue the story.

Pooh Trick or Treat!

By Ann Braybrooks
On Halloween night, Piglet and Winnie the Pooh are busy carving jack-o'-lanterns when Piglet announces that he isn't going trick-or-treating this year. This is because he's afraid a "heffalump" might be hiding under a costume when they go trick-or-treating. So, Pooh decides to help Piglet overcome his fears. They both go trick-or-treating dressed as a totem poll so that they can be "together". On the way they encounter tricks and treats that will excite children of the very young.

"Pooh: Trick or Treat!" is definetly worth adding to your "Winnie the Pooh" collection. Though it is another "Disney" book, amoung thousands of other ones, it is still faithful to the original "Winnie the Pooh" books by legendary author, A.A. Milne. It has beautiful illustrations by "Disney" illustrators, and the story is nicely put together by author, Anne Braybrooks. Not to mention the book is full of the "Halloween spirit."

Frosty Fun!

By Jennifer Liberts Weinberg

Pooh and the Dragon

By Ann Braybrooks
Poor old Pooh.

Tigger saw a dragonfly down near the stream. When he told Pooh, our friendly bear thought Tigger said he saw a DRAGON FLY.

Pooh's imagination went wild. He went round all his friends to ask them if they have ever seen a dragon. Of course they thought he was talking about dragonflies. Pooh became convinced that dragons were very real. That night he was very concerned that the dragon would come and steal his honey. Next day Pooh and Piglet made a net to catch the Dragon. They went down to the stream, but all they managed to catch was Tigger. Then a dragonfly appears and Pooh realizes his mistake. Another fun day in the 100 Acre Wood.

Winnie The Pooh All Year Long
My daughter received this book as a gift over a year ago and she still brings it to me to read it to her! Now that she is older, she looks at it by herself also. She never bores of it. I think your child will enjoy it too.

In SPRING, [Pooh and Piglet] go for a walk in the rain; in the SUMMER, Pooh and Piglet chases fireflies while Pooh counts the stars; in AUTUMN, Pooh rakes leaves and Piglet jumps into the pile, and Pooh picks apples while Piglet gathers acorns; in WINTER, they build a snowman, and Pooh and his friends go skating on the frozen pond. [Kanga, Roo, Tigger and Rabbit are also there.] Great book to teach the seasons to your child!

What is I appreciate the most about this book is it shows a child that just being together with friends and loved ones is special--it doesn't matter what you do, as long as you do it together! Another lesson learned is you don't have to like all the same things in order to be friends. Pooh and Piglet are best friends because they accept and respect each others' differences.

I highly recommend this book! (A must-own for Pooh and Piglet fans!) It is very colorful and beautifully illustrated (couldn't be better!) and it always brings a smile my daughter's face--mine too! Pooh and Piglet are great examples to all of us how friends should treat each other--with kindness, courtesy, respect and lots of love.

Count With Tigger

(Board Book)

By Ann Braybrooks
The one we have is small, easy to carry in my childs' backpack. Who wouldn't love to count all the things that Tigger can bounce over! Its adorable, fun and you get to see the other Pooh characters in it too like Roo, Rabbit and Pooh. Some of the things Tigger jumps over butterflies, leaves, baskets, bubbles. Its a blast. I believe very strongly in getting educational books for my toddler. My only problem now is finding a book to count to 20. He's been able to count to twelve for months because of the counting books we've had that go to 10 or 12.
